Welcome Message from the Chair of Governors

Welcome from the Governing Body of Grange First School.

Grange is a school where pupils are cared for, supported and given confidence to learn in a secure and welcoming environment.

As Governors, we share this ethos and work with the school, challenging and supporting it, to ensure that it delivers the highest quality education for your children.

Alongside the Headteacher (who is responsible for the day to day management) we set the schools aims and policies and act as a ‘critical friend to the Headteacher and school to raise standards, attainment and achievement.

We also oversee the financial performance of our school ensuring its money is well spent.

Our full Governing Body meets together at least once each term. We also meet in Sub Committees which deal with areas of:

  • Teaching, Learning and Achievement
  • Finance and Premises
  • Admissions
  • Staffing

Additionally, Governors are linked to areas of the School Development Plan,  Safeguarding, Curriculum and aspects of work of the school. These ‘Link’ Governors meet regularly with the Head Teacher and/or staff and conduct visits to school specific to their linked area.

All SubCommittees and Link Governors prepare written reports to the full Governing Body to enable all Governors to be fully informed of the work of the school.

Collectively we work with the head teacher and staff to ensure that your child achieves his/her full potential.
